    Extended Rear Facing Car Seat
per page

Choosing the best car seat for your baby is just one of the choices that should be made prior to your baby’s arrival. Newborn baby car seats are rear-facing and should be until your baby is at least 9kg or at least 15 months old if following the new ‘i-Size’ standard which is classified by height as opposed to weight which will eventually replace the current weight-based classification in 2018.

Weight-based newborn baby car seats are classified as Group 0+ and are designed to ensure your baby’s head and neck is given vital support with the addition of a head hugger for added comfort. This should be used for the first three months or until your baby can hold his head up on his own.

Car seats for newborns also feature a handle to allow ease of transition into and out of the car. A harness is integral to your newborn baby car seat and should be installed correctly so it does not move around.

There are two ways in which the car seat can be installed in your vehicle; either with the use of the seat belt or Isofix that provides anchorage points and mounts the car seat directly into the frame of your car.

Newborn baby car seats can be used until your baby’s head is above the top of the seat and it is recommended that your baby stay backward facing for as long as possible. As your baby grows, so does the classification and when ready, your baby should move to a group 1 seat with the rear-facing option increasingly recommended until your baby reaches 4 years of age.

At Simply Baby we offer a full range of car seats available from birth upwards including both seat belt and Isofix options.
